TANCET - Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (MBA) 2015

TANCET 2015 -  Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test  acronym as TANCET is conducted by the Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu from candidates who seel admission in

• MBA
• MCA
• M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan

and other degree programmes offered at University Departments, University Colleges of Engineering, Regional Centres of Anna University, Government and Government added Engineering Colleges and Art and Science Collages and self-financing Colleges( Engineering, Arts and Science Colleges including stand-alone institutions) in Tamilnadu. Some Universities and Self-Financing Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on marks obtained in TANCET.

TANCET Exam Eligibility

For MBA course 

The aspiring candidate should be have passed a recognised Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained atleast 50% (45%  for reserved category candidates) at the qualifying examination in 10+2+3 years pattern or

He should have a 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern (or) B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch./ B.Pharm. (or) AMIE with 2 years regular full time Teaching experience / Industrial experience in the relevant field after passing all the subjects.

For M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch./M.Plan

Important:

1. Candidates admitted through lateral entry in degree courses are not eligible except B.E./B.Tech. degree courses
2. Candidates with B.E./B.Tech./M.C.A./ M.Sc. degrees obtained through week-end courses and B.E./B.Tech. through distance mode are not eligible. 
3. Those who are appearing for final year / semester examination of the above qualifying degrees in April / May 2014 can also apply for TANCET 2014.

TANCET Exam Syllabus

This MBA Entrance Test consists of the questions from the following given subject:

• Quantitative Aptitude.
• Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability.
• Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency.

TANCET Exam Pattern

The question paper will have 100 objective type questions. Each question will have five alternate answers. Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark and 1/5 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Multiple shadings will be considered as wrong answer and 1/5 mark will be deducted. However no marks will be deducted for the questions left unanswered

The question paper will have section with questions:-

• To evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations.
• To evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.
• To evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level (including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level).
• To test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of Mathematics and use of day – to – day facts.
• To test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.

TANCET Exam Date
This exam is normally held in the month of March every year.

How to apply for TANCET Exam?
Interested candidats can apply for TANCET for admission to all the courses through a  common application by adopting any of the following two procedures:
Spot Registration
Hall Tickets will be issued to the candidates who come in person to the following Co-ordinating Centres with a copy of 10th Std. mark sheet and 12th Std. mark sheet (or 3 years Diploma Certificate) and cash or Demand Draft  of the prescribed entrance test fee (A single DD is sufficient for one or more programe)
Registration through Internet

Interested candidates can also register through internet by logging on to www.annauniv.edu/tancet2015 .The completed downloaded application along with the required demand draft and photocopies of certificates should reach The Secretary, TANCET, Centre for Entrance Examinations, Anna University, Chennai - 600 025 on or before the last date by 5.30 p.m. The hall tickets will be sent by post. 

TANCET Exam Fee

Candidates have to submit only one application. The candidates have to pay a fee of Rs.500 (Rs.250 for SC/SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu on production of a copy of Permanent Community Certificate in card format) as entrance test fee for any one of the programmes either (1) M.B.A. or (2) M.C.A. or (3) M.E./M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. 

If a candidate desires to appear for more than one programme, for every additional programme, he/ she has to pay Rs.500 (Rs. 250 for SC /SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu). 

The demand draft should be drawn in favour of ‘The Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University,’ payable at Chennai, obtained from any Nationalized bank on or after 22nd Jan, 2015.
